Solar 4G camera FAQ

Yes. It runs from its own solar panel and battery. It needs sunlight to charge and a 4G signal to send video, but no power line.

It does not need Wi-Fi. It uses a mobile data SIM, which is its internet connection. With no mobile signal at all it can still record to the SD card but cannot send alerts.

It depends on the model and how often it wakes. We publish measured run time with no sun on the datasheet that ships with samples, instead of a claim on the box.

By default it sleeps and records when motion or a person is detected, which saves power. Some firmware supports low-power always-on recording at a reduced frame rate.

A Nano data SIM from a network whose 4G bands the camera supports, with the PIN removed and a data bundle. See the SIM card guide.

Mostly what you watch live. With alerts and short clips only, a worked example comes to about 4–5 GB a month; see the SIM card guide for the arithmetic.
